Training Workshops

Our workshops are interactive and were created to simplify the connection between the impact of the climate crisis and our daily habits. Our goal is to convey, in simple words, concepts related to the environment that we may not fully understand so that each one of us can make the best choices for our planet.

Sustainability Guides

Our lives consist of a series of choices. What we will wear, what we will feed on, how we are moving from one point to another are just a few of the decisions we are called to make every day. Considering that all of these actions have an impact on the environment, it is very likely to feel confused about how to make the best of these choices!

beakonmunity

The beakonmunity initiative is a monthly meeting point that we started aiming at sharing thoughts, concerns, ideas and feelings as well as at inspiring each other to bring the changes our world needs.

K

Beak-on targets citizen groups, civil society organizations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). We recognize that there are significant information gaps around sustainability and the transition to a circular economy. Our goal is to fill these gaps by providing useful, coherent and concise information on sustainable development.

2. Why are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) important for sustainability?

L
K

SMEs are the backbone of the Greek economy, as they:

  • Represent 99.9% of businesses in the country.
  • Employ over 2.2 million workers.
  • They operate in almost all sectors, significantly affecting the environmental footprint of the economy.

Due to their widespread presence, SMEs can play a decisive role in the transition towards a more sustainable economic model.

3. What are the challenges and incentives for SMEs in sustainability?

L
K

Although many SMEs are interested in sustainability, according to research, there is low awareness of the practices and benefits of the Circular Economy, especially in the construction, logistics, trade and service sectors.

However, more SMEs are finding strong incentives to become more sustainable:

  • Reducing operating costs through resource savings.
  • Enhancing the corporate image, attracting more customers.
  • Complying with environmental legislation, reducing legal risks.

At Beak-on we provide personalized information and practical tools for SMEs’ transition to sustainability.

4. Why is cooperation with civil society organizations important?

L
K

Civil society organizations play a key role in shaping social values and promoting collective action. They can act as multipliers of sustainability, integrating good practices into their operations and inspiring the communities in which they operate.

Even if their core activity is not directly related to the environment, the integration of sustainable practices can contribute positively in the following areas:

  • Education: Promoting knowledge about sustainability among students and young people.
  • Social welfare: Linking environmental sustainability with social solidarity.
  • Culture: Organizing events and activities with a low environmental footprint.

At Beak-on we provide personalized advice and educational tools that help organizations to be properly informed about the environmental footprint of their activities and to reduce it.

5. How do you approach sustainability in practice?

L
K

We adopt a holistic approach, examining the environmental footprint of both organizations and businesses and the people who make them up. Our philosophy is to be by each collective entity and its people, helping them to integrate sustainable practices into their daily lives in a meaningful way. In other words, we do not limit ourselves to theoretical advice. On the contrary, we seek to make sustainability accessible, practical and applicable, so that every business, institution or citizen can contribute to protecting the environment and the transition to a more sustainable future.
