A FEW WORDS ABOUT US

The climate crisis has reached unprecedented levels, with its effects being felt more and more by more and more people in the world. We are experiencing the hottest summers and the hottest months ever measured, while the limit for not increasing the average temperature of the earth above 1.5 degrees Celsius, by 2100, now seems very distant.

So, on a planet that is experiencing the impact of the climate crisis in multiple ways, we feel that we must work both individually and collectively to reduce our environmental footprint.

Thus was born our need to create Beak-on. The name “Beak-on | The Hummingbird Project” arose from our thoughts and feelings when we heard the environmental parable of the hummingbird.

In this story, when a large forest fire breaks out, all the animals run away to be saved, as they feel that what is happening is too big to deal with. All except one: the smallest bird in the world, the hummingbird. The hummingbird flies – again and again – to a nearby lake and takes a drop of water with its beak at a time. It returns and throws it into the fire.

When all the other animals shout at it to fly away to save itself, telling it that it is too small to accomplish anything, it continues. And when one of the other animals asks “Oh, are you crazy? What are you doing?”, the hummingbird replies “The best I can”.

Climate change is a huge challenge. Very serious changes will have to be made at all levels, to address it. However, this does not mean that small efforts in our daily lives are not important. Quite the opposite!

We at Beak-on, seeing from our social environment that, either there is a lack of knowledge, or there is confusion regarding the concepts of sustainability and circular economy, aw well as the good practices around these concepts, as a result of which people do not have the way to do what they can for a sustainable future, decided to focus our efforts on exactly this.

We started with the aim of environmental education and awareness of consumers, small and medium businesses, civil society organizations and more!

Our goal, in addition to disseminating and consolidating information about climate change, is to create a network of people and organizations that will work together for a sustainable future!
