Evi Makri
Evi Makri is a PhD candidate conducting research on the field of climate justice, while her research interests additionally include the fields of energy democracy and circular economy. At the same time, Evi is among the co-founders of Beak-on | The Hummingbird Project, an initiative dedicated to spread knowledge and raise awareness on climate change in simple and interactive ways.
As an active climate and human rights advocate; Evi has volunteered to support civic engagement and inclusive decision-making, mainly for youth but also for underprivileged communities. Since 2020, she has volunteered with YES-Europe (Young Leaders in Energy and Sustainability), while in the meantime she has also been trained as youth trainer and as a Climate Fresk facilitator. In addition, she is an EU Climate Pact Ambassador.
Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in International, European, and Area Studies, with special focus on International Law and International Relations; an MSc in Energy Law, Business, Regulation, and Policy; as well as a second MSc in Climate Crisis and Information & Communication Technologies.
Recognizing the importance of also making small changes, Evi is committed to supporting citizens, civic society organizations and SMEs in making sustainable shifts.
